The GSM GPRS Shield Module with SIM 900, from Keyestudio, is based on the Quad-Band SIM 900 module and provides the GSM GPRS function. It allows voice calls to be made, SMS to be sent and connections to the Internet network to be made. The shield has a switch that gives the possibility to choose between a software serial port or a hardware serial port.

GSM GPRS Shield Module with SIM 900

1. Self-adapt to 3.3V and 5V voltage of the board, and support 3.3V platforms.
2. After connecting the SIM 900 shield to Arduino, a 9V/2A (direct current) power source is required, otherwise it may malfunction.
3. Quad-Band GSM/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900MHz (support 2G UNICOM card, China Mobile, but not Telecom card).

Other information

If you choose to use the serial port software, you must use the Software UART, or else you must use the Hardware UART.

The Shield includes a Supercapacitor dedicated to RTC (Real Time Clock). If you toggle the switch to DBG-Port, you can connect the port to Arduino or connect the port to PC via Arduino.
